We’ll give you an overview of these different treatments right now…
Traditional metal braces have withstood the test of time and are still the most common type of braces in use today. The comfort factor has increased significantly over the years.
These are made from high-grade stainless steel and they use metal brackets and archwires to straighten your teeth. Patients wearing this type of braces can add colorful elastic bands to their brackets. This can add a fun pop of color and give you a unique smile.
If you’re concerned with the look of metal braces, another option available is ceramic braces. These braces are less visible on your teeth since the components are made from transparent materials. Many older teenagers and adults prefer this type of braces due to cosmetic concerns with traditional braces.
Ceramic braces are typically only adhered to the front top teeth because they are larger and more prone to breakage than traditional metal braces. The size and materials of these braces also means that oral hygiene is even more important when wearing ceramic braces.
These braces are made from the same materials that are used in traditional braces, but they don’t use the colored elastics as other options.
Instead of the elastics, self-litigating braces use a special clip to assist the archwire in guiding the teeth into place. This clip helps to reduce the pressure on the teeth as they are moving and requires fewer adjustments overall. As for the brackets, you can choose from traditional metal, clear, or ceramic brackets.
Invisalign offers a convenient and nearly invisible option for orthodontic treatment. Instead of brackets and wires, Invisalign uses clear plastic trays to gently align your teeth. These aligners are made specifically for your mouth using 3D imaging technology.
You can remove these trays when eating and brushing and flossing your teeth. The aligners are more comfortable than traditional braces, and appointments are less frequent as you swap your trays out at home.
The treatment plan offered by Wilckodontics is slightly different than others, as it involves minimally invasive surgery. This drastically reduces treatment time, though, so for many people, it’s well worthwhile.
